Sunset in the studio. My windows are east facing, so I only really get direct light early in the morning - which is fine - but then if the sky is clear around late afternoon, I get a softer display of sunlight, reflected from neighbouring buildings. The colours create a warm atmosphere and the shapes change minute by minute. Perhaps one day I'll record a timelapse.

Chelsea, London (2025, sold) Prints coming this week! Sign up to my newsletter to receive a reminder along with other updates from my studio. The process video (second slide) was recorded in real time as always... no speeding up or slowing down of footage. Just a few different sequences put together. This was crosshatched using a fountain pen, instead of my usual pigment liners. Pigment Liners are great for delicate details, but occasionally something a little heavier is needed. I have a few different fountain pens, and I use a range of inks, either cartridge-fed or through an ink reservoir (a tiny cartridge-shaped plunger that sucks up ink from the bottle) A warm thank you to the collector who acquired this original from my latest studio release 🙏

Do you recognise this coastline? A map titled "Project for Development of Gulf Stream Currents" (catchy) - a work in progress - a drawing I started a year or two ago, using one of the most minimal maps in my collection. This is more portrait than map, a self-indulgent exercise in the tightest crosshatching I can manage. It's a confidence-builder, a warmer-upper, and in a way I'll be sad when it's finished.

She's now on display at @outregallery in Melbourne Australia as part of the gallery's annual invitational Vanguard exhibition. A huge thanks to Outré for inviting me back and of course a warm thank you to the collector who has already purchased the original.

I hope this crosshatching compilation is calming. To me, my process is calming... patience-building, not patience-testing. The audio is an excerpt from my conversation with Tom Stroud on BBC Radio Solent. I was invited on the show to chat about my work for the John Lennon Mind Games box set, although I was also asked some general questions about what I do, to give listeners an overview.
